Calculation Rules:

Step 1: Adjust Optional (4th) Subject Points

• Subtract 2.0 from the grade point you received in your optional subject.
• Example: If you got an A+ (5.0) in Higher Math, the additional points will be: 5.0 – 2.0 = 3.0.
• If you got a B (3.0) in your optional subject, the additional points will be: 3.0 – 2.0 = 1.0.
• If you received a C (2.0) or lower, the additional points will be 0 (since any value below 2 becomes 0 after subtraction).

Step 2: Calculate the Total Points of Compulsory Subjects

• Add the grade points of all your main (compulsory) subjects, excluding the optional one.

Step 3: Calculate the Final GPA

• Add the additional points from the optional subject (from Step 1) to the total points of your compulsory subjects.
• Now, divide this grand total by the number of compulsory subjects (e.g., 8 for the Science group).
• This final result is your GPA.

• Total points from compulsory subjects: 5 + 4 + 5 + 5 + 4 + 3.5 + 3 + 5 = 34.5
• Additional points from optional subject: 3.0
• Grand Total Points: 34.5 + 3.0 = 37.5
• Final GPA: 37.5 ÷ 8 (Total number of compulsory subjects) = 4.6875
